About this Object+

Queen of Phoenix —

Her hair is on fire and her face is perfectly calm. Queen of Phoenix draws on Ori — the Nigerian tradition of body painting through which a person connects to her own soul — reimagined by the founder. It is a design about rebirth: the rising that happens when someone finally slows down enough to meet herself.

Provenance:

The art is based on Ori, a Nigerian form of body painting and a practice of connecting with the soul. In its traditional form, white paint travels across the whole body until the person very nearly disappears behind the art. What you see here is Ori as the founder imagined it.
The name comes from the Phoenix rising — a creature of the imagination, and a true description of what happens to people who decide to slow down and connect with themselves. The hair burns. The face remains calm.

Symbolism:

Within the design sits an eye, conceived originally for the Dr. Veronica brand. Its pupil is a heart: you must love other people, and you must love yourself.
The eye is not incidental. The founder trained as an eye surgeon and remains one; she also works as a clairvoyant. Having tended the physical eyes, she now helps people with the spiritual ones. The eye in this design is about seeing into yourself.
In her human design, she carries the channel of the queen — walking the earth, subconsciously, as royalty. The design invites the same: rise from the ashes, and treat yourself like a queen.

Founder's Note:

On the mats and on the blankets, this is about creative, artistic, beautiful connection with yourself — movement meant to lift you physically, mentally, and spiritually. Remember that you can rise from ashes like the phoenix, and look at the world with love.
Queen of Phoenix is beautiful, playful, and spiritual. How often do you get to hear all three of those words together? — Dr. Veronica
